Aloha from the California redwoods. I am i n a retreat here this week and it has been hot hot hot. A much needed respite in the redwoods forest has been made so much more delicious by the Heart of Summer mist.

In awe of these ancient trees. I sat inside a hollow giant, letting the forest penetrate inside my every cell. Beside my dreamy tree house was a cedar estimated 1400 years old. Magnificent. The life it witnessed both beneath its roots and above its canopy in the sky. Since I was young I felt the trees speak to me, in recent years it is part of my spiritual practice I consciously cultivate. What is known by a tree in front of me, is shared with a tree miles and miles away through the intricate system of their roots. Birds, animals, other plants, wind, rain, fire, earth - all communicate with them 🌳. I am in awe, and gratitude.

If humidity could ever be 200%, now would be that time. Tropical hurricane moisture is lush, combined with the aromatic dew from my yellow Ylang Ylang flowers the scent outside is intoxicating. Like I am floating in a cloud of aromatic paradise, which I suppose I am. Skin is quite happy too, hydration for the taking.

Once the hurricane moisture is gone there is always Flower of Flowers mist, and the heavenly Ylang Ylang trees (which btw are actually very tall, they can get up to 100ft I believe).

On a different note, I am discovering I am enjoying sharing reels with no “trendy” or otherwise suggested music. Just real life sounds. Wind. Sounds of life. Perfectly imperfect.

I took this photo in my bathroom last night. For the past few weeks, I have been picking branches of Ylang Ylang flowers from my trees to perfume my home. The aroma of these little yellow flowers is indulgently intoxicating and sophisticated. No wonder this flower has been the foundation of many high-end perfumes for centuries.
